도심 한가운데 위치한 한 상업공간은 구조도 나쁘지 않았고 마감도 깔끔했지만, 어딘가 차갑고 기억에 남지 않는 분위기를 가지고 있었다. 방문객은 머물렀지만, 공간은 오래 남지 않았다.
공간 운영자는 단순히 밝은 조명이 아니라, 사람의 감정을 건드리는 인테리어 요소가 필요하다고 느꼈다. 특히 한국적인 감성과 세련된 현대성이 함께 살아 있는 연출을 원했다.

Hanji-Inspired LED Wall Lighting Transforms Commercial Interior into a Memorable Brand Experience
A once-cold commercial space is reimagined through the fusion of traditional Korean aesthetics and modern light guide panel technology
A commercial space located in the heart of the city has been successfully transformed into a refined and emotionally engaging interior through the application of hanji-inspired LED wall lighting. While the space originally featured a clean layout and decent structural qualities, it lacked warmth, character, and a lasting impression on visitors.
The project began with a clear objective from the space operator: to go beyond simple brightness and introduce an interior element capable of touching people emotionally. The goal was to create an atmosphere where traditional Korean sensibility and modern sophistication could coexist naturally within the same environment.
After reviewing various materials and design directions, the client focused on the soft texture and subtle emotional quality associated with traditional hanji. However, real hanji alone presented practical limitations in terms of maintenance, durability, and uniform light diffusion. The solution was found in the combination of LED light guide panel technology and hanji-inspired design language.
Rather than treating lighting as a decorative accessory, the project approached light itself as a tool for shaping the identity and emotional tone of the space. Every aspect of the installation was carefully reviewed, including wall dimensions, visitor circulation, visual focal points, and the color and texture of surrounding finishes. The lighting surface had to function not only as an attractive feature, but also as an element fully integrated into the architectural context.
The design direction emphasized a balanced expression of light—soft enough to preserve warmth, yet strong enough to establish visual presence. The final composition combined a modern frame, refined surface lighting, and a restrained visual language that preserved the elegance of traditional Korean aesthetics without appearing old-fashioned.
Once the initial sample was produced, the client immediately responded positively, describing the result as significantly more sophisticated than expected. The light carried the softness of paper, yet behind that gentle expression was a highly precise optical design engineered for consistency and quality.
As the custom-made lighting panels were installed across the wall surface, the atmosphere of the space began to shift. During the daytime, the panels appeared as calm and understated design objects. In the evening, they transformed into an emotional luminous backdrop that embraced the entire environment.
What had once been an empty wall became a focal point where people naturally paused and directed their attention. The lighting no longer served merely to illuminate; it became a defining element that shaped the temperature, mood, and perception of the space.
